Dishwashing Favourites

At our house, we have a selection of CDs that we like to put on to accompany us in the task of doing the washing up. It makes the process much more enjoyable than it should be.
Here is the collection:

Michael Jackson
Marvin Gaye
Scissor Sisters
The Four Tops (anything motown is good)
Madonna
Queen

Cooking music is great too. It can be more ambient than that of dishwashing. And harder to categorise, probably because there is more variety involved in the cooking process.

there's also different music for different parts of the day don't you reckon? some albums work well in the morning, and some in the afternoon. like pixies' doolittle works really well in the morning. the opening bass line to debaser sounds perfect when your stumbling round the kitchen to make your morning coffee.

For a lot of the year 2002, I would listen to Belle and Sebastian's "If you're feeling sinister" album most Wednesday mornings, because it felt like the right thing to do.
