Man Playlist

For those going through "Man-o-pause"... I have found the cure. Thanks to all who gave suggestions.

I added some less manly songs just to balance out the testosterone.

1. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Suck My Kiss
2. Midnight Oil - My Country
3. Agnostic Front - Gotta Go
4. Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
5. Scissor Sisters - She's My Man
6. Men at Work - Down Under
7. Slim Dusty - Duncan
8. Cold Chisel - Khe Sahn
9. Belle and Sebastian - The State I Am In
10. Dr Dre - Bitches Ain't Sh@#
11. Australian Crawl - Boys Light Up
12. Jimmy Barns - Working Class Man
13. Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World (I'm still not convinced about this)
14. Village People - In the Navy

Coming to a Man Day near you.

Nice list (I'm feeling more manly already) although the finish is dubious. I don't think the village people and their song about sailing the high seas with a bunch of other men is helpful in reinforcing the heterosexual masculine image! I like the Barnsey, that's as manly as they come!

Great list. I am weak at the knees.

I think, however, this list just demonstrates the blurry line between raw, grunting, manly, sweaty machoism and homoeroticism.

der i think the reason why "man you felt like a woman" is cause you dressed up like one recently
;-)

Armstrong's Oh When the Saints is appropriately gruff.

Pryderi, I'm glad you included Bell and Sebastian. They're all about men, especially in their track "Seeing Other People":

...Kissing just for practice
Could we please be objective?
Cause the other boys are queuing up behind us
A hand over my mouth
...
Well, if I remain passive and you just want to cuddle
Then we should be ok, and we won't get into trouble
Cause we're seeing other people
At least that's what we say we are doing
...
I don't think you can be dealing
With the situation very well
You take a lover for a dirty weekend, that's ok
But when it's over
You are looking at the working week in the eyes of a gigolo
...
You're kissing your elbow
You're kissing your reflection
And you can't understand why all the other boys are going for the
New, tall, elegant rich kids
I'll admit it is a bitch, kid
...
Or you're going to have to go with girls
You might be better off
At least they know what they're doing...

Yeah, I was going to include that track. Very manly lyrics. I chose 'The State I Am In' because it contains the delightful phrase:

"My brother had confessed that he was gay
It took the heat off me for a while
He stood up with a sailor friend
Made it known upon my sisters wedding day"

B&S seem to have an obsession with boys... but are they actually gay? The Q&A section on their website is worth a read.

"Don't stop me now" is one of the best piano-rock songs written since Jerry Lee Lewis went on his way.

And what could be more manly than Freddy Mercury singing, "I'm gonna make a supersonic man out of you."

Beautiful.

Also, hate to be pedantic (wait, that's a lie), but it's Belle & Sebastian, not Bell & Sebastian.

Thanks. I'll fix the spelling mistake.

I have a thing for piano-rock songs. "Don't Stop Me Now", "Thunder Road" and "Tiny Dancer" all make me feel like a natural man.
