As long as that's not the order, I agree with you.

Otherwise I'd make sure you'd put Mary Chain at number 1, I didn't know they were Scottish. But they deserve number 1 slot for pure coolness, even if we don't like or understand their music.

Well... that kind of is the order. But I don't think there's too much difference between the quality of the top 3. So I guess J&M Chain could be number 1.

Does The Reindeer Connection count? (They are a Scottish supergroup). Their album Son of Evil Reindeer is one of my favourites.

Don't be intimidated you stick by your order Der.

Oh, I'm not going to change it!

Reindeer Section - I have only heard a couple of their songs. I'll have to get hold of that album.

Yeah I noticed that - when I tried to go to your blog it said you were under investigation!

Primal Scream deserve a place for pure coolness also, even if their music mostly sucks.

Did Franz Ferdinand make the top ten?

Just checked Wikipedia. Also Mogwai, the Beta Band, BMX Bandits (cool name), Hugh Reed and the Velvet Underpants (even cooler name), the Reindeer Section, The Shamen, and Stealers Wheel (one good song). And the Proclaimers.

Both Franz Ferdinand and Primal Scream would be in the top 10. The problem is, there are a few famous Scottish bands that only have one or two decent songs - like The Proclaimers, Stealers Wheel (didn't know they were Scottish) and Wet Wet Wet, but I don't know if they had ANY good songs.

What about Bay City Rollers?

Are they any good? I only know 'Bye Bye Baby'...

My vote is for Sons and Daughters. Maybe that's Pos' indie breathless girl band. Really are pretty fantastic; jangly, thumpin' bit shouty.

Cabernet Leather said...

Ah yes. I can remember they had a cool song called 'Dance Me In' a while back.

Don't know, but they're strongly referenced in So I Married an Axe Murderer, which is a very amusing but underwatched Mike Myers film.
